Description
PROJECT INTENT
The UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse renovation is an initial phase of a comprehensive athletics masterplan DRS Architects completed for Duquesne University in 2016.
The objective of the renovation was to provide a premier basketball venue for the Dukes and their fans, dedicated to Duquesne alumnus Chuck Cooper, the first African-American drafted into the NBA.
The building's expression incorporates civic scale, a contextual material palette and visual transparency to make a positive contribution to the urbanism of the Uptown community.
