Description
PROJECT INTENT
The renovation of the James E. Rogers School revitalized an historical school building in the Garfield neighborhood of Pittsburgh. Originally opened in 1915, the building had served as an educational facility for over 90 years, but had been vacant for almost a decade.
While respecting the history and context of the original structure, the renovations brought the building up to 21st century standards in terms energy efficiency, health and welfare, technology, and practical program spaces for the Environmental Charter School.
The building is home to their 6th - 8th grade Middle School students and provides a facility that is supportive of their curriculum, mission statements and policy of inclusivity.
