Description
PROJECT INTENT
Two Doughboy consists of a renovation to an existing 1902 bank building and a contemporary 25,000 square foot addition at a prominent intersection in the Lawrenceville neighborhood of Pittsburgh.
The site planning considers the three main factors of being: first, located between a commercial district on Butler Street and a residential area on Penn Avenue, then being set on an acute triangular site, and finally managing various street front levels.
The project draws inspiration from the rich character of the original bank building through use of roman brick and cast stone at its base. Full height glazing allows abundant daylight to flood in the space while perforated metal panels wrap the building services to complete the exterior appearance.
The building addition was awarded the IWBI WELL Gold certification, enabling the highest levels of wellness for its occupants.
