PROJECT INTENT 
Wabtec Corporation, a high-tech supplier for the freight and transit rail industries, had the need for a new corporate headquarters to replace their existing offices in Wilmerding, PA. Wabtec has been located in Wilmerding since the late 19th century and it was a cultural shift to relocate their offices to the North Shore of Pittsburgh after acquiring GE Transportation. The Fortune 500 company’s new global headquarters is being used to dramatically reshape Wabtec's image. The 80,000 sq. ft. Isabella Street renovation completely transformed two floors of the building. A combination of reconfiguration and reuse was utilized to create a space that functioned and felt like one cohesive office. Each floor consists of a combination of perimeter and interior offices with glass partitions that allow ample natural light into the adjacent open office spaces. Each department has areas for collaboration, meeting and conference rooms, kitchenettes and informal gathering spaces throughout.
