PROJECT INTENT 
This building asset had never fulfilled its vision. With a change in Ownership from an academic institution to a healthcare system and the recruitment of a world class physician/researcher champion the building experienced a rebirth and a new purpose to change the lives of patients, soldiers and athletes by exploring the complexities of brain/body responses. The West Virginia University Medicine Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute’s new vision is to facilitate interdisciplinary research, learning, and treatment for a variety of neurological conditions including Alzheimer’s Disease, depression, and addiction. The significant renovation and additions support the facility’s focus on the advancement of brain research in high-performance individuals such as Navy SEALS, professional athletes, and fighter pilots. This adaptive reuse is supporting activities that will improve the human condition.
